The Queen

Today in my CSR309 class we watched the movie "The Queen". This movie showed me that as a leader you need to be openminded when it comes to new ways of doing things. Just because one style of leadership has worked for awhile does not mean that it is always going to work. Also the movie showed me that you can't let your personal bias against someone or something get in the way of being an effective leader. In the movie the Queen of England lets her personal feelings toward Princess Diana get in the way of seeing that the people of England needed her to help them get over the loss of someone that was very important to them. Once the Queen realizes that even though her and Diana might not have always got along she was an important person and needed to be shown the respect that she deserved.

CSR309 First Couple of Days

The first two days of my CSR309 class couldn't have been more frustrating for me as a student. It went against everything I had come to expect out of the first few days of a new class. There was no going over the rules or expectations of the semester, no getting to know the professor, or no real idea what we were supposed to be doing. We basically just sat there and waited for someone to tell us what to do and when that person never did all hell broke lose. It showed me the real importance of a strong leader. When people that weren't as respected by the class for whatever reason went to the front to try and figure out what we were supposed to do they were either ignored or full attention was not given. It was a whole other story when someone that everyone respected started talking. The class participated fully and paid their full attention to his thoughts and ideas. I could see how easily it would be for a business to feel the same affects of not having good leadership except in the business world you're fired for not being able to produce results from the people you are leading.
